BIS - Biblioteca Italiana Seattle

Il Punto is pleased to offer Biblioteca Italiana Seattle (BIS), a library of books, movies and music in the Italian language. The BIS catalog includes over 2,500 books available for free to the general public. It spans fiction, history, biography, art, cooking, travel, Italian language learning, and a sizable collection of children’s books. We also carry Italian DVDs and CDs. The BIS is free to anyone, members or on-members, but you must register as a BIS patron in-person to borrow books. Il Punto members are automatically also BIS patrons. Check out our catalog!

Hours of operation and location

IMPORTANT: Biblioteca Italiana Seattle has recently moved to Casa Italiana Italian Cultural Center in Burien. We are still unboxing and re-shelving our collection and are not ready to begin lending again. Donations are still being accepted.

Our regular hours of operation have been suspended due to the COVID19 epidemic.

Book donations

We accept donations of new and used books in good condition at the discretion of the BIS staff. Please note that by donating to BIS you are permanently relinquishing ownership of your donation to BIS without any form of compensation. Prior to contacting us, please compile a list of the titles you intend to donate along with the author and year of publication. You can make your donation in the following ways:

In Person
Donations are accepted during our normal operating hours or by appointment. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic we are only scheduling appointments for contactless drop-off. Please contact us for more information.

By Mail
We accept donations by mail from all over the world. Please send your donation without signature required to our mailing address listed above. At this time, we are unable to pay for postage: all shipping costs are at the expense of the donor. We do, however, offer a tax receipt upon request.

Contact us and volunteer - Internships available!

For any questions or to volunteer, please use the contact form or email us at bis@ilpuntoseattle.org. We rely on volunteers to keep the BIS running, so your donation of time is very much appreciated. Only basic computer skills are necessary, besides a passion for Italian culture and availability once or twice every 6 months. High school and college students or instructors looking for internship or community service opportunities are strongly encouraged to contact us!
